About me

My name is Lídia Magdolna Hajba, a Hungarian artist based in Budapest. I’ve graduated at the Hungarian University of Fine Arts in 2025. In 2024 I’ve spent a semester in the UK at Edinburgh College of Art with a scholarship which had a significant impact on my creative practice.

For me creative creation is the artist’s inner truth and journey, constant presence with our essence. My works are mirrors of me, reflect on my inner transformations, liberating and healing journey. As Béla Hamvas said: “The artwork is the being itself – along with the entire world of the being”.

My works are based both on research and intuitive creative processes, often taking the form of personal mythologies, which I strive to convey from a transpersonal perspective as well. As my essential roots, I am highly inspired by the Hungarian folk art, but at the same time, I also enjoy drawing from the ancient knowledge and motifs of other cultures. I believe, the simple organic forms are multidimensional and carry much more hidden symbols and sacral depths than we would think.

The main theme of my interest is the female existence. The expression and sacrament of femininity with its inherent portals as soul gates. My art process is an exploration to embody my experiences about my femininity; embody its bloom, alchemy and its hidden dimensions connected to the nature. My aim is to unfold these divine portals of creation through my view, while I’m looking for how can I renew and give birth to myself from time to time in my womanhood. One of my invitation and question are how can we be our home for ourselves and recognise the sacrament inside and around us. To remember and remind.

My visual multilingualism is based on synthesis. I use mixed medias and work from natural sources to find the proper mediums and shapes of my experiences -such as collages, textiles, ecoprint, clay, paper cuts, dried flowers and pastel. I’m also working on audios, sound compositions inspired by the melodic motifs of Hungarian folk songs. Through this, I vocalise my traditional and cultural roots and create unique atmospheres for my installations and further ideas. With my installations I focus on sacred spaces and sanctuaries in a contemporary context. I use voice and sound as tools for healing and connection, which also refer back to ancient traditional rituals.

I hope my works can awake something inside you and continue to flourish with You.
